James Wilton Dance are, relatively speaking, fairly new in the wide world of dance having existed for just four short years. ‘Last Man Standing’ is a work based on the book ‘The Last Hero’ by Terry Pratchett an author not often cited as an inspiration for dance makers.
Lest you be unfamiliar with the work of Mr Pratchett then shame on you, because it’s very funny stuff, think Martin Amis, only without the self righteous preaching and more jokes.
The company tell us this much about ‘Last Man Standing’;
“Last Man Standing is dance driven by unparalleled energy and athleticism, performed by world class dancers; a hotly anticipated new work from rising star, James Wilton. Fast becoming renowned for exhilarating choreography that leaves you breathless, James’ work draws on martial arts, break dancing and capoeira to create raw, earthy and ground-breaking performance.
All of this propelled by a trademark soundtrack of heavy rock, ambient music and textured soundscapes.”
‘Last Man Standing’ is touring across the country over the next few months and you should check the company’s website for further touring information.
The work is performed by Naomi Tadevossian, Sarah Jane Taylor, Adam Gain, Michael Kelland, Harland Rust and James Wilton.
