As former dancer and choreographer with Scottish Dance Theatre, Joan Clevillé knows his way around a dance work or two and now, striking out on his own with his own company, he brings us his new work ‘Plan B For Utopia’.
The company tell us this much about the piece;
“Plan B for Utopia is a playful dance theatre work exploring the notion of utopia and the role that imagination and creativity can play as a driving force for change in our personal and collective lives. Mixing dance, theatre and storytelling, the piece creates an intimate space where audience and performers can engage in a common endeavour to re-imagine the world.
Premiered during the 2015 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the work has been selected for the next British Dance Edition showcase and will be on tour across Scotland, England and several international festivals in 2016. Please click below for more information on performance dates and venues or to find out more about our creative learning programme.”
We caught up with them at the tail end of last year, to bring you some of the show and an interview with Mr Clevillé himself and company dancer Solène Weinachter. The work will be back on tour in the Spring so check the company website for further details.
‘Plan B For Utopia’ is performed by Solène Weinachter and John Kendall and was filmed at The Riley Theatre in Leeds on November 13th 2015.
